Karen Davies, Executive Producer
Karen is an award-winning and highly experienced Television and Video Producer with over 160 productions under her belt, including many TV commercials and corporate videos, a soap opera pilot, (Mile Zero, KCTS and Shaw TV) and several documentaries including Gods and Monsters From Ancient Forests, PBS and Skills for Healing, Eastlink; she is also a winner of the Houston Film Festival REMI Award for creativity, Karen is so proud to work on a series like Flavours of the West Coast because she truly believes in the messaging, and has a passion for supporting local food producers and companies who deserve the recognition. Dai Davies, Director & Main Editor
Dai is an exceptionally skilled and experienced video professional with a highly successful background in top-level television production, with over 22 years as Senior Editor at the BBC in London, England and 9 years running Cedarwood Productions, the Victoria-based video production company who are responsible for Flavours of the West Coast, and who also had the honour of winning the 2010 “Business of the Year” award from the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce. See more of Dai’s work at Cedarwood Productions

 

Lindsay Nielsen, Associate Producer and Camera Operator

Lindsay joined the Flavours team in time to start planning and filming series two. Lindsay graduated from SAIT Polytechnic in Calgary, Alberta with a Television Production Diploma, and also has her Professional Communications degree from Royal Roads University in Victoria. Lindsay has worked in Radio, Print, and Television, including CTV Calgary for almost five years. Her mixture of technical background, communication skills, and of course her love of good food (she will try anything!) makes Lindsay a great addition to the Flavours of the West Coast team.

 

Rod Phillips

Rod Phillips,Sommelier and Wine Buyer for Liquor Plus
Rod Phillips has been in the wine business for over 20 years and was lucky enough that he found a career that blends his passion with his experience. Rod is a master of wine, and tastes over 3,500 wines a year in the course of his work! Rod is currently a sommelier and wine buyer for Liquor Plus stores, and is never happier than when advising and helping clients with their wine choices and pairings, working with all tastes and budgets. Says Rod: “It’s not hard to find a $50/bottle of wine that will blow your socks off, my job is to find one at $10-$15 or $20 that will do the same”.

 

Ian and Carolynn McDowell, Musicians
Ian and Carolynn McDowell are thrilled to be working once again with Cedarwood Productions on the series Flavours of the West Coast, providing original music throughout the show, including the theme music at the beginning and end of the show. Music and acting have been a part of their lives from day one and they’re well known in the local music community. Together, they perform as the duo Deja-Vu.
