Chef Steve Walker-Duncan
Award-winning Chef Steve Walker-Duncan is the guide that leads us to all of the wonderful places explored in Flavours of the West Coast.
Trained under the tutelage of chefs throughout Canada and Europe, Chef Walker-Duncan worked under M. Albert Roux catering to royal and celebrity guests. He has been in the food industry for over 25 years and boasts a string of certifications to his name, including being voted twice as the Chef of the Year by his peers in the Victoria branch of the Canadian Culinary Federation. Steve brings his trademark bonhomie and good humour, combined with his culinary expertise to our vast tour of the West Coast’s hottest food spots.
Steve is currently a Chef Instructor at Camosun College, Vice-president of the Canadian Culinary Federation Victoria branch, and Vice-chair of the Camosun College Culinary Arts Program Advisory Committee.

Chef Ali Ryan
Ali made her first appearance on Flavours of the West Coast in series 1 while making us some fabulous mussels in beer, and we loved her so much we invited her back! You’ll see Ali a few times this series, including as the guest host for the Sunshine Coast episode. Ali will also be hosting our recipe book launch September 11th at Spinnakers, and her and Steve will be doing a cooking demonstration together. Everyone is welcome!
Ali has been the Chef at Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub for 7 fascinating years. Some of her life experiences prior to Spinnakers include, 4 years of BioChemistry at Trent University, 6 years of treeplanting and bush camp cooking all over northern Canada, 5 years in Whistler including three years as Sous chef at a busy pub, a couple of seasons of fruit picking in the Okanagan, extensive travel around Europe over the past decade – all in all she’s had a whole lot of fun.
